Affordability and Government

Affordable Healthcare, Affordable Education, Affordable Retirement (Social Security?), Affordable Cities, Affordable Communities to Live In, Affordable States to Reside In … the list can be long.  Currently, Affordability and Government does not naturally go together.  What is that government does, that can actually be called “Affordable”?  Affordability in Government is rare!

Buried in a memo written by Dr Ashton Carter on September 14, 2010, page 7, paragraph 3; “…a multi-year procurement of 124 F/A-18 strike fighter and E/A-18 electronic attack aircraft, will yield over $600 million savings to the Department and the American taxpayer.”  This was the result of a Northrop Grumman project that Dr. Beth Cudney and I were involved in from 2007-2009.  We actually called this program; “Affordability”.

Affordable performance mean faster and better services at a lower cost and price.  Why doesn’t this happen?  Why is government failing its citizens?  Why can’t government institute Affordability?
