Over the past few days, I had the privilege of working with 49 healthcare professionals representing many of the numerous dimensions involved in delivering care including; executives, directors, nurses, technicians, and other professionals from areas such as Quality & Safety, HR, IT and Finance. Throughout those few days, we engaged in frequent discussions surrounding the need for change and transformation in healthcare in terms of improving Patient Experience, increasing Quality of Care and reducing Cost. We also discussed “How To’s” in terms of how to move from the current state of delivering care to a future state of excellence.
For the most part, care in and around these organizations, is very good. Their AHA HIIN scores over the past few years have demonstrated accomplishment of advancement and improvement in the delivery of care. The trend and direction reveals that the future is bright. We are on the path of improvement. And, to some extent, change and transformation is occurring. The reason we were together was for Lean and Six Sigma training and development for application in hospitals and other organizations supporting care delivery. I responded to their interest and demand for a better understanding of change and transformation, and provided a series of PowerPoint slides explaining and articulating methods and means for pursuing organization modification and improvement.
Working with other similar organizations over the past 6 years, involving hundreds of people, change and transformation was also a core of concern and interest. This is a common theme in Healthcare today. My recommendation: Pursue Healthcare Affordability to achieve care delivery that is truly centered on Patient Experience with Faster, Better, and more Affordable care.
